The Computational Biology and Bioinformatics core facility provides research opportunities and support for students, postdoctoral fellows, and faculty interested in the use of computational approaches to solving biological problems. Our goal is to lower as much as possible the threshold to enter the -omics area of the life sciences. To achieve this goal we have established a much-in-demand Bioinformatics Consulting Group, developed a high-performance local compute and storage architecture (the Biomedical Research Computing Facility), and implemented a cutting-edge training program for the biological sciences community.

Additionally, the Biomedical Research Computing Facility (BRCF) provides researchers with local compute and storage capabilities (termed Compute PODs) suitable for research computing workflows not addressed by the Texas Advanced Computing Center’s (TACC) supercomputers.
